Mercedes-Benz at the 2012 Goodwood Revival

Sept. 12, 2012 - Mercedes-Benz and Auto Union racers from the 1930s will take to the track this weekend for the first time at the Goodwood Revival between 14 and 16 September, some 75 years after the Silver Arrows first appeared in the UK.
All the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrows set to appear at the Goodwood Revival are original cars – each with an extensive racing history behind them. They will be driven by ex-DTM driver Roland Asch, Le Mans winner Jochen Mass, five-times DTM champion Bernd Schneider, three-time Formula One World Champion Sir Jackie Stewart and his son, ex-F3000 racer and team manager Paul Stewart. Among the cars set to appear are the W 25 (1934), the W 125 (1937), a W 154 (1939) and a W 165 (1939). Power outputs range from the 254 hp of the 1.5-litre V8 W 165 to the 600 hp achieved by the mighty W 125. All were by far the most advanced machines of their kind with innovative suspension and drivetrains meaning they were highly successful and effective racing machines. The Goodwood Revival will feature a special recreation of the 1930’s pit area that once played host to the Silver Arrows. Slower but no less significant is the Mercedes-Benz Lo 2750 race transporter truck from 1936. Trucks of its kind were used to transport the Silver Arrows between races. Powered by a five-litre, 70 hp petrol engine, the Lo 2750 transporter is also making an appearance at Goodwood. The Silver Arrows will be participating in a series of demonstrations at the Goodwood Revival – scheduled on the track at 13:00 on Friday and Saturday and 15:00 on Sunday. Away from the track, road cars from the past and present will be on display at the Earls Court Show area of the Goodwood Revival. Precisely the same 300 SL ‘Gullwing’ that made its debut at the Earls Court Show is on display at the Goodwood Revival – even the stand design is inspired by the 1954 Show. Joining it on the stand will be a 230 SL ‘Pagoda’. Bringing the stand to the present day will be two key new cars from Mercedes-Benz – the all-new A-Class and the SL 63 AMG. A dedicated media site (www.mercedes-benzpress-revival.co.uk) has been created to celebrate the participation of Mercedes-Benz at the Goodwood Revival. Featuring detailed specifications of the cars and drivers as well as a comprehensive image and video library of the cars racing in their heyday, the site will be updated with images from the 2012 Goodwood Revival as the weekend progresses.

I couldn't believe it when I found out Walter's Mercedes Benz had a blue colored SLK in stock - my dream car! This was my first time purchasing a vehicle and the staff at Walter's MB made it a smooth process. Juan Carlos was my salesman. I've visited the dealership a few more times after, like for my free car wash for life (!), and I'm welcomed very warmly like family. I'm definitely coming here for future MB vehicles.

I recently leased a Mercedes from Walter's Mercedes in Riverside. I had the best experience that I have ever had dealing with Vincent Troncoso, the Internet Sales Manager. He is professional to the extreme and I definitely will lease my next Mercedes from this dealership. By the way, I live in Hollywood and Vincent had the vehicle delivered to my home.

Vincent Troncoso was great, we got to the dealership just before closing, he didn't make us feel pressured at all. He answered all of our questions and was very personable. Everybody at the dealership was so nice.... and, I love my new car!

"Car buying should be a delightful experience, however, more often than not it is very stressful and deflating. I did not believe going to Walter's and looking at the S400 I was going to walk away with anything. I based this off my recent visits to Audi, BMW and Lexus dealerships. I was greatly mistaken. I met with Charlie Saikali and he was one of a kind. He was helpful, personable, a great listener and sincere. He met with me, discussed what car options I was looking into and helped me narrow down what it was I really wanted out of a car. After dealing with me graciously for a few hours, I walked out with my S400 and felt great!! I will refer all of my co-workers, family and friends to Charlie. "I had been researching autos for about a year. My initial feeling was to buy an automobile from Carmax. I decided to go to Walter's to test drive a Mercedes. I had no intention on purchasing a car. I would like to thank Vincent Troncoso. He allowed me to test drive a Mercedes C300. Afterwards my mind was made up. I left there with a 2011 Mercedes C300. There was no hagling or pressure. "Recently bought a glk 350 benz from Vincent at Walter's, and although I spent a lot of time researching and almost bought a Lexus (gasp!) what finally sold me were all the safety features that a benz has to offer, not to mention there is nothing out there that looks even close to the glk, and I like to stand out. Vincent has is superior in every way and definitely knows his cars backwards and forwards. Once I decided on a car, the rest was easy. Even getting through finance wasn't as much of a headache as it usually is (past bad experiences at other dealerships). Thanks Vincent and everyone else at Walter's!"
