Mercedes CLA45 AMG images leak ahead of Big Apple debut

It's not terribly difficult to imagine what the Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG will look like, or what it will perform like, for that matter. Take the basic recipe that is the recently introduced A45 AMG, throw in a swoopy and devastatingly attractive coupe-like sedan shell, mix and serve.

Under the CLA45 AMG's stylish hood will sit a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 360 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque, as is the case with the A45 AMG, and it will be paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. A sophisticated three-stage stability control system will help keep the power on the ground, which is good, since we're expecting a 0-60 run of around 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 155 miles per hour.

The all-new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, designated W222, is one of the most highly anticipated debuts of its model year. Every generation of the flagship sedan has broken new ground in technology and innovation for the entire industry, and the German automaker appears determined to raise the bar much further with its latest arrival as it promises to deliver "the best automobile in the world." Mercedes-Benz has just released nearly two dozen interior images of the new sedan, showing off style in design, craftsmanship in execution and pioneering advancements in technology.

Unlike all previous generations – the first S-Class officially arrived in 1972 – the 2014 model completely discards a traditional instrument cluster and replaces it with two high-resolution color displays in 8:3 format with a screen diagonal of 12.3 inches (the outgoing model's gauges were a mix of digital and analog). The left unit displays traditional analog gauges (digitally, of course) while the right unit is reserved for infotainment and comfort settings with the automaker's all-new mBrace2 – a cloud-based entertainment and information delivery system that is rolling out this year.

Passengers will be pampered with "energizing" massage, active seat ventilation with reversing fans, heated seats, heated steering wheel and heated armrests (door and center). A total of 14 separately actuated air bladders in the backrest of the seats will provide six different massage programs. There are also "beltbags" (airbags in the seatbelt webbing – not unlike the Ford Explorer) and "cushionbags" (airbags to prevent occupants from sliding beneath the the belt).

Mercedes calls its newly developed climate control "thermotronic," as it features completely autonomous adjustment options for driver and passenger. It also includes improved filtering utilizing ionization, and an "active perfuming system," as part of its "air-balance" package, to individually customize the smell of the vehicle interior – finally making those pine tree car fresheners obsolete.

Bob Murray is simply the best. My wife and I drove two hours to buy our first Mercedes and lucked out and got Bob as our salesman. He will have hot coffee for you and will take the time to explain anything and everything. I guarantee he will have something in common with you and not be pretentiousness. He even called the next day to make sure we made it home and answer any additional questions we might have. I went to Walter s Mercedes to show my wife the 2013 MB E350 as I was recommending this to be her next car. As I walked into the showroom, Duc Truong came up to us and he introduced himself. He was quite cordial and asked us if we were looking for a new vehicle. I mentioned to him that I just wanted to show my wife the new E350 and get it as soon as our lease terminates at the end of the year. He asked us if we would be interested in doing the lease update now. I told him we will be willing to do it if he can keep our payments at the current rate without a hefty downpayment. Our current lease will also need to paid off by the dealership. Surprisingly enough, Duc was able to work out the deal and threw in an extra $100 credit for a bag that my wife wanted to get from the parts department. We walked out the dealership with a new brand new car and as a 100% completely satisfied customer. This is now the third leased vehicle I have gotten from this dealership and plan to continue going back as everyone provides excellent service!

Best-Ever Months for Mercedes-Benz and Sprinter models, up 21.9% and 48.0%, respectively

MONTVALE, N.J., March 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) reported today sales of 24,051, a 22.2% increase over the 19,679 vehicles sold in February 2012 making it the highest volume on record for the month. The Mercedes-Benz model line alone achieved its highest February numbers with sales of 22,040, up 21.9%. On a year-to-date basis, the 48,110 vehicles sold represent a 16.2% increase.

 

"We're building on January's momentum to bring us to a record first quarter," said Steve Cannon , president and CEO of MBUSA. "The auto industry's on the up and we're ideally positioned to take advantage of the strengthening market.  With the strong product cadence we have mapped out for the year, we'll continue bringing new buyers to Mercedes-Benz while offering an expanded palette for our existing owners."    

Mercedes-Benz February sales were fueled by the C-, E-, and GL-Class model lines. The sporty C-Class – the gateway to the Mercedes-Benz brand for younger and first-time Mercedes-Benz buyers – was the volume leader posting sales of 7,302, up 39.4%. The 9th generation E-Class followed with sales of 4,211 and the much acclaimed GL-Class rounded out the top three with sales of 2,800, up 77.8% compared to February 2012.                

At the high-end, February sales increased as well with the S-Class up 16.4% and the SL-Class up 353.1% when compared to the same period last year. 

The Sprinter model line also continued its momentum marking a record month with 1,228 vans sold, a 48.0% increase from February 2012, while smart recorded sales of 783 vehicles, up 1.8% for the month.

Sales of the high-performance AMG models were 497 for the month and sales of the company's BlueTEC diesel models finished the month at 1,251.

Separately, through the Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned (MBCPO) program, MBUSA sold 7,541 vehicles in February; an increase of 26.0% when compared to February 2012 (sales of 5,985 vehicles).  On a year-to-date basis, MBCPO sold 15,700 vehicles, an increase of 21.4% over the comparable period (with sales of 12,930 vehicles).

One afternoon I finally decided to take the "plunge" and check out a Mercedes. I really was having a hard time deciding between a Benz and an Infiniti. While I liked the bodystyle of the Infiniti better, The safety and convenience features Benz offers far outweighed the Infiniti. 4 hours after entering the dealership (this includes choosing a color and options), I drove home in my beautiful new 2012 GL450. SInce I rode for the first time in my best friend's E class, I have been wanting one ever since. SO for the last for years, I have been saving and finally got my E class in diamond white yesterday. Vincent helped me get financed (it was a bit of a struggle because of my credit) and he was very understanding of my sitation. It doesn't matter what I pay, because I finally have my E Mercedes!! I initially planned on getting a Volvo, but after seeing reviews in Consumer Reports and talking to my coworkers, I decided to at least try an entry level car. The c250 is the one I tried.I wasn't wowed at first, but when I went in to the dealership the second time, I met with Vince and he showed me a dark brown color that just stood out from the rest. I am leasing the car, but I definitely feel the difference in this versus my old Chrysler that I sold to my sister!
